Group Show at Academy Art and Frame Company
March 27, 2024

This month marked an exciting chapter in my journey as a photographer, as I had the opportunity to exhibit two of my prints in the Colorado Photography Learning Group show hosted at the Academy Art and Frame Company in Colorado Springs. The show, a celebration of talent and creativity within our community, served as a platform for artists to showcase their unique perspectives and visions through the lens of a camera.
The reception on March 22nd drew a large crowd of photography enthusiasts and supporters, providing a nurturing environment for creativity to thrive, fostering connections and inspiring collaborations within our artistic community. The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the award winners, guided by the discerning eye of Pamela Fickes-Miller. It is with immense gratitude and humility that I share the news of earning both 1st Place and an Honorable Mention—a recognition that fills me with pride and deep appreciation for the support of my fellow artists and mentors!
I am profoundly thankful to our hosts, Kim Costello and Cas Foste, whose dedication ensured the seamless execution and success of the event. I also extend a heartfelt acknowledgment to Mike Pach, the driving force behind the Colorado Photography Learning Group, whose vision and leadership brought this remarkable showcase to fruition.
The evening was not only a celebration of individual achievements but also a testament to the collective talent and passion that defines our creative landscape. Alongside my own recognition, I applaud the remarkable contributions of fellow artists whose works captivated our audience. Karen Hamilton’s amazing piece earned her the 2nd Place honor, while Joel Ohlsen secured the 3rd Place position, enriching the exhibition with their distinct artistic voices. Additionally, Alana Thrower, Diane Stewart, and Cindy Wickline Drew received well-deserved Honorable Mentions for their outstanding contributions. Jeff Mallo’s dedication and support were also celebrated with the prestigious Academy Frame Staff Award, underscoring the importance of collaboration and camaraderie in nurturing a thriving creative ecosystem.
As I reflect on the success of the Colorado Photography Learning Group show, I am reminded of the power of art to tell a story, evoke emotions, and foster connections. It is through moments like these that we are reminded of the beauty and resilience of the human spirit—a spirit that finds expression and solace in the universal language of photography.
